GL9511

2-Port HV PD3.2 Controller
Genesys GL9511 is an advanced 2-port PD controller that supports DisplayPort Alternate mode and charge-through function. It is compliant to USB Power Delivery Specification Rev 3.2 / 3.1 and Type-C Port Controller Specification. GL9511 integrates Type-C Channel Configuration (CC) function and BMC PHY to support PD messaging for power negotiation, power/data/Vconn swapping and alternate mode function. The Type-C Port Manager (TCPM) for policy of 2 PD ports is achieved by an 8-bit MCU and its application code is stored in external Flash.

GL9511 supports OVP/OCP/OTP with integrated 6-channel 10-bit ADC. There are threshold comparators for each ADC channel, and the protecting activity can be made very quickly once any over-V/under-V/over-I/over-T occurs.

Both PD ports can be source, sink or DRP, which can be configured according to customers’ requests for the targeted application. The application code can be upgraded through USB or I2C path.

There are 22 GPIO pins in GL9511 for power path control, VBUS discharge, I2C interface, HPD, and SuperSpeed Mux control. GL9511 also integrates the SBU/AUX switch and an USB FS PHY (Billboard device) to support DisplayPort Alternate Mode over Type-C.
